LET'S SCRAMBLE

Perfectly blended, the egg white and the yolk create an egg-celent breakfast. Much like this scrambled egg, the perfect blend of validity and reliability in language assessment yields a sound measurement of learning.

Before you get cooking, start with a brief section reviewing validity and reliability.

Then, follow through each fix (for writing, reading, and speaking) for four quick fixes to your language assessment. Each fix includes a pitfall of assessment, a solution, and multiple opportunities for reflection.

In order to make the most of this professional development, it is recommended that you complete these lessons over the course of multiple weeks with your language department. Discuss and complete the reflection activities together (shown in bright yellow boxes).

Slowly implement each fix until you have a new recipe for assessment!
